Doha, November 27, 2010: NAM Alumni Qatar Chapter celebrated their 1st annual get together on the 26th of November, 2010 at Shalimar Palace Doha. 55 Alumni of Nam College Kallikandy attended the event with family and friends.
The event was kicked off by General Secretary Mr. Fahad P. Peedikayil who delivered the welcome speech and highlighted the activities planned for the evening. This was followed by the service of delicious lunch.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. CV Abdul Ghafoor who also was a Head of the Arabic Department of Nam College and presently working at MES School Doha. Mr. CV Abdul Ghafoor spoke about the need for networking among the alumnus and strongly recommended a mentoring program be initiated to help and guide new alumni who arrive in Qatar with little knowledge of the local landscape.
The Annual General Meeting formed a new Executive Committee for the next two years with 25 members in all.
Nostalgia – self introduction session was a very enjoyable and all our friends had lot to talk about. Some of the funny memories were resurrected and it was like being at the college again. Live music kept the crowd rocking. Over a gift were awarded to participants.
The main sponsors are Mr. Zainul Abideen (General Manager Safari Group), Mr. Abdul Raheem PK (Managing Director, Food World Group) and Mr. Ashraf Chakkarathil (Managing Director, Food Mart Group).
Mr. Mehaboob Aboobacker (Managing Director, Galaxy Printing Press) sponsored custom printed colorful diary for each alumni which were a real hit!
Finally everyone greeted each other and the departed with the hope of gathering for the next event …
